Dr. Giovanni Sammarco, born in Naples and graduated in Dentistry in Verona, is a specialist in conservative and restorative dentistry, endodontics and periodontology. He has taught at the University of Insubria, the Turin Dental School and the University of Bologna, and is an active member of AIC and an affiliate member of EAED. Author of scientific publications and specialist textbooks, he founded the TRAP study group and lectures at national and international congresses. He practices in Trento using the operating microscope and serves on the AIC Board of Directors.
Born in Naples in 1972, Dr. Giovanni Sammarco graduated in Dentistry from the University of Verona in 1997. Throughout his career, he has completed annual and biennial advanced training programs in restorative dentistry, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics, periodontology, and implant dentistry, studying with internationally recognized speakers.
In 2005, he obtained the diploma “School Program in Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry” under the direction of Prof. Jan Wennström, further strengthening his expertise in periodontal and implant clinical practice.
From 2015 to 2018, he served as a contract professor in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics at the University of Insubria (Varese). He was also a faculty member of the Second-Level Master in Periodontology at the Dental School of Turin (Prof. Mario Aimetti, 2013–2017) and, since 2017, has been a lecturer for the Second-Level Master in Aesthetic Conservative Dentistry at the University of Bologna, directed by Prof. Lorenzo Breschi.
Dr. Sammarco has been an active member of the AIC – Italian Academy of Conservative and Restorative Dentistry since 2015 and an affiliate member of the EAED – European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He is co-author of the AIC project hAICarie, for which he served in the cultural committee in 2018.
He has held two terms as Cultural Secretary for ANDI Trento and served on the CAO Trento Council from 2015 to 2018. He is the author of scientific publications on cariology and minimally invasive restorative techniques, as well as two specialist books published by Quintessence.
Founder of the study group TRAP – Tooth Respect and Prevention and creator of the clinical cariology program “Vincere la Carie”, he has lectured at numerous national and international congresses, including the prestigious American Academy of Restorative Dentistry (Chicago, 2018) and the Society for Color and Appearance in Dentistry (Chicago, 2023).
A member of the Massironi Study Club and the Adhesthetics study group founded by Dr. Federico Ferraris, he practices in his private dental office in Trento, where he routinely uses the operating microscope. Since 2023, he has been part of the Board of Directors of AIC.
For many years, he has been a reference speaker on caries management, prevention, and minimally invasive restorative dentistry, contributing significantly to the Italian and international dental community.
